Having worked for several years with his father, a painting contractor, Milton J. Womack began business as a general contractor in 1955. The company was incorporated in Louisiana on May 29, 1964 as Milton J. Womack, Inc. and has grown over the years to be recognized as one of the premier commercial building contractors in the southeastern region. Our volume, quality, scale and diversity of projects over the past 65 years are a testament to the long-lasting success of our company.

Awarded contract to build Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge.
Construction of Earl K. Long Hospital completed.
Construction of LSU Law Center expansion completed. This was the first major expansion on the law school campus since its original construction in 1937.
Construction of La Belle Maison Apartments completed. This was our company’s first project in the Greater New Orleans area.
Corporate offices moved to Mission Drive in Baton Rouge.
Terry Hill begins work at Milton J. Womack.
Completed 6th Floor Patient Room build-out at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. This initial project began a continuous working relationship with OLOL that is still active today.
Corporate offices moved to current location on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.
Steve Carville begins work at Milton J. Womack.
Completed construction of new Baton Rouge General Hospital on Picardy Ave. MJW has since done the majority of major construction projects on this hospital campus.
Mark Gallegos begins work at Milton J. Womack.
MJW company ownership is transferred to Terry Hill and Steve Carville.

Renovations on the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New Orleans completed.
