Founded with Integrity

Having worked for several years with his father, a painting contractor, Milton J. Womack began business as a general contractor in 1955. The company was incorporated in Louisiana on May 29, 1964 as Milton J. Womack, Inc. and has grown over the years to be recognized as one of the premier commercial building contractors in the southeastern region. Our volume, quality, scale and diversity of projects over the past 65 years are a testament to the long-lasting success of our company.

  • 1955

    Milton J. Womack founds the company as a general contractor with corporate offices located in downtown Baton Rouge.

  • 1964

    Awarded contract to build Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge.

  • 1968

    Construction of Earl K. Long Hospital completed.

  • 1969

    Construction of LSU Law Center expansion completed. This was the first major expansion on the law school campus since its original construction in 1937.

  • 1971

    Construction of La Belle Maison Apartments completed. This was our company’s first project in the Greater New Orleans area.

  • 1978

    Corporate offices moved to Mission Drive in Baton Rouge.

  • 1978

    Terry Hill begins work at Milton J. Womack.

  • 1979

    Completed 6th Floor Patient Room build-out at Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge. This initial project began a continuous working relationship with OLOL that is still active today.

  • 1982

    Corporate offices moved to current location on Jefferson Highway in Baton Rouge.

  • 1982

    Steve Carville begins work at Milton J. Womack.

  • 1994

    Completed construction of new Baton Rouge General Hospital on Picardy Ave. MJW has since done the majority of major construction projects on this hospital campus.

  • 1995

    Mark Gallegos begins work at Milton J. Womack.

  • 1999

    MJW company ownership is transferred to Terry Hill and Steve Carville.

  • 2001

    Ryan Pruett begins work at Milton J. Womack.

  • 2002

    Renovations on the Ritz Carlton Hotel in New Orleans completed.

  • 2003

    Company founder Milton J. Womack passes.

  • 2004

    Adam Bourgeois begins work at Milton J. Womack.

  • 2005

    Company celebrates 50 years.

  • 2012

    Construction of the Woman’s Hospital Replacement Facility in Baton Rouge completed.

  • 2016

    Construction of the new Liberty High School in Baton Rouge completed.

  • 2016

    Renovation to the Watermark Hotel in Baton Rouge completed.

  • 2020

    MJW company ownership is transferred to Steve Carville, Mark Gallegos, Ryan Pruett, and Adam Bourgeois

  • 2021

    Construction of the new St Tammany Parish Hospital South Tower Addition in Covington is completed.

  • 2024

    Construction of the new Prairieville High School in Ascension Parish is completed.
