Project Overviewx
Christ the King Catholic Church and Student Center was a renovation/new construction project, where the existing student center had to be demolished to construct the new facility. Approximately 20,000 square feet, the new church building is tied into the existing 80-year-old church with a unique gathering area complete with skylights, exposed wood beams and decking nearly 40 feet high. Elegant stained-glass windows lined the perimeter. Of particular interest in the church is the baptismal pool built into the floor. A two-story, 8,000-square-foot administration building constructed of structural steel and brick was added adjacent to the facility. The existing church structure was converted into the student center with the addition of a commercial kitchen and second-floor library built over the old altar area.
